Digital Boost Controller vs. Manual Boost Controller

As you modify your Lancer EVO sooner or later you’re going to start thinking about raising boost.  I mean the turbo is so nice isn’t it?  And all you got to do is hook up a boost controller, turn a knob or hit a button and instantly you have more power than before. Sweet!  But hold on there fella there’s a few things you gotta think about before going ahead with your boost raising ambitions. Like, what type of boost controller should you get, manual or digital?

Top 5 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Mods for Under $300

Top 5 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution Mods under $300

We have listed here the top 5 performance parts for your Lancer Evolution 9 / 8 for under $300.  I know, I know, “Top 5” lists tend to be bias most of the time, and this list won’t be any different.  Hey just read on and you’ll see how to up them ponies in your EVO for cheap.  Like, a $300 kind of cheap.

          1. Air Intake – Definitely get rid of that stock air box under your hood.  The stock air box that comes on the Lancer Evolution is very restrictive.  The best thing you could do to a stock EVO is to get rid of the air box in favor of a high-flowing performance version.  Most intakes for the EVO run below $300 and there’s a good selection to choose from.  The Lancer Evolution is one of those cars that has a very huge aftermarket following, so you have many choices when it comes to parts.
          2. Down Pipe – It’s a fact that the most important part of the exhaust on a turbocharged car is immediately after the turbo.

Lancer Evolution 8/9 ECU Re-Flashing

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution is a car that wants to be modified.  There are so many parts to choose from when adding power.  For most, the intake and exhaust are obvious starting points when raising performance.  There's a lot of flexibility when it comes to what the EVO 4G63 engine can handle.  A good ECU re-flash is something that will benefit the EVO even with a stock engine.  I've seen bone stock EVO's get increases of over 20hp or more with a good re-flash.  Lancer EVO's come with a lot of restrictions from the factory.  An ECU re-flash is a simple way to overcome the restrictions put on there by Mitsubishi to make the EVO more reliable for daily driving, and safe for mass production sale.  An ECU re-flash can take the place of expensive stand alone computers and save you hundreds of dollars in tuning cost.

There's a few ways you can go about getting a re-flash.  One way is that you can take it in or send your ECU to a tuner along with a list of your mods and they'll re-flash it according to your set-up.  See, tuners

Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 8/9 ECU Wiring Diagram

We have both EVO 8 & EVO 9 ECU Pin diagrams for your viewing enjoyment.  If you have an EVO 8 ECU with a 3-plug harness we got the diagram for that too.  We recommend that you use extreme caution when handling the ECU plug wires.  Always use proper splicing techniques to assure that the wires have a solid connection.  Don’t want to be careless when it comes to your ECU.  Get more info here about an EVO ECU Flash
